Obituary of Genevieve A De Chellis

DeChellis, Genevieve A. (nee Balestrieri) age 90, of Paterson, passed away on Christmas Day, December 25, 2017. Genevieve was born in Brooklyn NY, on February 4, 1927. She grew up in Paterson, NJ, where she worked for Kearfott Aeronautics for many years. She then went on to work for the Jury Commission of Passaic County. She graduated from both St. Bonaventure grammar and High Schools and became an active member of St. Bonaventure R.C. Church in Paterson. She served as a lector and was a member of their charitable organizations, Altar Society, and Bible Study group. Genevieve was also an avid reader and crocheter; one of her treasured charities was to crochet baby blankets, hats, and booties for unwed mothers. Genevieve was predeceased by her husband Theodore, her parents Rose and Fred Balestrieri, and her dear sister Rosemarie Gnehm. She is survived by her dear siblings Dolores Casson and Anita Mekita, her beloved nieces, nephews and her many great, great nieces and nephews, her sister-in-law Evelyn DeChellis and brother-in-law Ernest Gnehm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa on Friday at 9:45 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Bonaventure R.C. Church, Paterson at 10:15 AM. Entombment at Calvary Mausoleum, Paterson. Friends may visit Thursday 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers please make Memorial contributions to St. Bonaventure R.C.
