Obituary of James F Avigliano

Avigliano, James F. age 77 of Wayne, passed away suddenly in France on May 20, 2017. Beloved husband of 50 years to Christina Marie (nee Leo) of Wayne. Loving father of James C. Avigliano & his wife, Fatima of Montclair and Andrea Avigliano of Wayne. Devoted grandfather of Luke Anthony & Veronica Elizabeth Avigliano. Caring brother of the late Rose Mary Festa. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. Born in Paterson, he moved to Wayne in 1970. After graduating law school, James started his career as an Assistant Prosecutor for the Passaic County Prosecutors Office. After that, he entered private practice with the law firm of Festa & Avigliano, Little Falls. During his years in private practice, he was also the Township Attorney for the Borough of Haledon, and the Prosecutor for the Borough of Totowa and the Township of Wayne. Mr. Avigliano served as the Prosecutor for Passaic County from 2002-2008. He currently works as an attorney with the law firm of Harold Cook & Associates, North Haledon. Mr. Avigliano belonged to the Passaic County Police Chiefs Association, Passaic County Bar Association, the Italian/American Police Society, the Federal Law Enforcement Organization, NYC, and serves on the Board for Homeland Security, as well as various other law enforcement organizations. He was elected to the Board of the National District Attorneys Association. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd, Totowa, on Tuesday, May 30th, 2017 at 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Bonaventure R.C. Church, Paterson at 10:15 AM. Committal at Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Paterson. Friends may visit Monday, May 29th, 2017 at 4-8 PM.
