Obituary of Elena Coscia

Coscia, Elena (nee DeSopo) age 82 of North Haledon at rest in Wayne on March 23, 2017. Beloved wife of Frank Coscia. Loving mother of Frank M. Coscia and his partner Dawn Kemp, James Coscia and his wife Elise, Ann Fazio and her husband Frank, Laura Frank and her husband JR, and Steve Coscia and his wife Sandra. Dear grandmother of Frank, Stephen, Joseph, Christopher, Madeline, Michael and Samantha. Sister of Philomena DeSopo, Natalina Kalfe, Dr. Carmine DeSopo and the late Giuseppe DeSopo, Benjamin DeSopo and Anthony DeSopo. Born in Tricarico, Prov. di Matera, Italy, she lived in Italy for 19 years, until she emigrated to the United States in 1954 and settled in Paterson before moving to North Haledon. She was a Credit Clerk for County Bank & Trust Company, Paterson, which became New Jersey Bank for several years. Elena was recognized for instituting a filing system in the Bank’s Credit Department that was utilized until the Bank became automated. Elena also worked with her husband in establishing Frank Coscia Agency, Inc., an insurance and financial services firm. She was a parishioner of St. Gerard Majella R.C. Church and a member of St. Mary's Rosary Society, Paterson. Elena will always be remembered for her deep devotion to her family and faith. One of the greatest joys of her life was indulging her 7 grandchildren with her baking, cooking, and sharing in their lives. Each grandchild was made to feel special and deeply loved for their unique talents. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd, Totowa, on Monday at 9:15 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Gerard R.C. Church, Paterson at 10:00 AM. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa. Friends may visit Sunday 2:00 - 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Gerard R.C.
