Obituary of William J. McAlister

McAlister, William J. age 91 of Succasunna at rest in Succasunna on February 12, 2017. Beloved husband of the late Gayle (nee Addleton) McAlister (2014). Loving father of Sherry Rizzo of Budd Lake. Dear grandfather of Christina Goldberg and her husband Jason, Jennifer Gulledge and her husband Jim, and Anthony Rizzo and his wife Elissa. Great-grandfather of Christopher Goldberg, James Rizzo, Joshua Rizzo and Jeremy Rizzo. Born in Paterson, he lived most of his life in Paterson, then Whiting for twenty years before moving to Succasunna two years ago. He was a Police Officer for the Paterson Police Department for nine years. After that he was a Court Officer for the Passaic County Court House, Paterson, for twenty-seven years before retiring. He served in the Army Infantry during W.W. II and earned a combat Infantry Badge from battles and campaigns in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He received an American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, W.W. II Victory Medal, European, African, Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon and 4 Bronze Battle Stars. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd, Totowa, on Wednesday at 1:00 PM.
