I am so sorry to hear about your loss.
From my own personal experiences what brought me comfort was finding out that God is the creator and source of life and therefore he is capable and promises to restore life to those that have passed away. He would never cause you pain by taking tour loves one away (pslams 36:9, Acts 17:25). God has resurrected humans in the past and yearns to do so in the future. He hates death and views it as the enemy and he will conquer the enemy and undo death by means of the resurrection. (1 corinthians 15:26, 1 Corinthians 15:56, Job 14:15, Acts 25:15) and Revelation 21:3,4)
Because I have lost so many friends and family in death, learning the truth as to why we die
I sincerely hope this note brings you comfort. If you don't have a bible and would like to see gods promises yourself you can read these scriptures online at www.jw.org.

On behalf of the entire Exelis employee population, I wish to extend our deepest condolences at the passing of Mary M. Nugent. I and many other Electronic Systems employees knew Mary well, and she was an icon of resilience, dedication and was a terrific employee who was respected by all. Mary was a special recipient of ITT Corporation's highest award for her longevity and contributions to the company. She was a great friend and loyal ally to her fellow employees, and she was respected by every management team that grew to know her. In addition, her contributions to the Girl Scouts, her church and the local community were inspirational to all. She will be missed by all who knew her, and her family will remain in all of our thoughts and prayers. David F. Melcher, CEO and President, Exelis Inc.

My sympathies go out to Mary's relatives who mourn the loss of this wonderful person. She was truly an example of a Christian woman. Quietly she attended to many. I was one of the few people aware of her generosity. As pastor of her beloved parish, St. Bonaventure Church, Paterson, from 2003 to 2012, I know that she was always mindful of the poor and for their safety and security. May her reward in heaven be great! May she rest peacefully with the Lord in whom she found her strength.

To Mary's Family,
I'm so sorry to hear of Mary's passing. I worked with her some years ago when I started as a young kid fresh out of college and knew virtually no one at ITT. I have wonderful memories of her bright smiles, kindness, helpfulness and dedication, and of course, her afternoon tea. Everyone I know has the fondest memories of her and treasures her immensely.
Again, my deepest condolences,
Kristen

Although we were "technically" cousins Mary was "immediate family" to all of us! Mary was such an important part in our lives since the day we were born! So many wonderful times at the beach, holidays, communions, confirmations, weddings, christenings, barbecues, birthday parties, graduation parties, St. Patrick Day parties etc.
Mary had such a special place in all of our hearts!!! We all loved her so much and will miss her deeply!
A big shout out to our brother Tommy on her behalf: Tommy loved her, as we all did, but he went above and beyond the call of duty! He made sure she was perfectly taken care of and actually was with her literally every single day since the day she got sick.....and several times a week prior to that just to make sure she was okay!!!! Thank you Tommy for making Mary's last years so comfortable!!!! She let us all know how grateful she was for you!
Rest in peace Mary! You will be very, very missed!
Love,
Claire (and the whole McNerney Family)

Sending our deepest sympathy to all of Mary’s family. It was a pleasure working with someone so passionate, calm and professional all at the same time. Mary’s dedication to the community, her ITT family, and the company in all of its ever-changing variety, made a huge impact in our lives. I have many fond memories with Mary but one that stands out the was working with her on the "History of ITT" Employee Association project, I spent many lunch times with her and loved listening to her stories from long ago when she started at ITT. Take comfort in remembering her and smiling at the little things that remind you of her…a smell, a photo, a song and when you are feeling down, remember she is watching over all of you now and forever. Mary will be greatly missed.
