We worked at Wheels Inc in Clifton in the 1960s.
I saw you perform in The roar of the Greasepaint, the smell of the crowd and always remember your bubbly personality. I went to Vietnam shortly thereafter and was injured and lost track. It is 2015 now and your memory had come back to me. Please rest in place. You were an inspiration to many.

I've always looked up to Uncle Leo and looked forward to seeing him. Deb and I were ecstatic he was such an integral part of our wedding. I'd always pictured and hoped that he would be. We miss him greatly.

Dear Sweet Leo...you were the one who introduced me to the Nutley Little Theatre through a realtor friend that I had met. When she found out I was into acting she immediately said, "oh, well you have to meet my co-worker Leo"! And so I did, he told me to stop by a rehearsal and he introduced me to the gang and so it began. I was fortunate to have done 3 shows with him and he was always the kindest, friendliest and warm person you could ever meet, he knew how to make you feel comfortable and I will miss his sweet face always! It was obvious how loved he was from such a big turnout at the viewing and I only hope he knew that! To his family, I am so so sorry for you loss and wish you all my best! And especially to Gail, I wish much good health to you in the future!

When I think of Great Uncle Leo, the first thing that comes to mind is how he looked after Great Grandma and Johnny. He seemed to always be over there taking care of things and making sure they were alright. The second thing I think of is how he had endless energy to care for his son Noah.
My earliest memories of Uncle Leo are when we would visit New Jersey and he would drive us around to see my Mom’s old house, school, etc. He would take us to the best pizza places, museums, and other sites. Great Grandma used to speak so highly of him. She would talk about going to the track to see him race horses, and watching him in plays. I remember her telling me what a hard worker he was, and saying, “None of my boys are loafers!
We were lucky enough to have Uncle Leo visit California several times in the last few years. On one visit about six years ago, he told me, “I still have my dreams and aspirations. He had a spring in his step that defied his age. His last visit was for my brother’s wedding, which he MC’d. So smooth and comfortable, he was born to be on stage. Watching him on the microphone was a gift to us who lived across country from most of his performances. When I told him how much I enjoyed watching him, he told me I was his biggest fan. I’m sure that is a line he used a lot.
Kate and Emily, I hope you know how proud he was of you two.

I have wonderful childhood memories of Leo. He and Julia and Johnny visited my mother Jennie King on many occasions. We always looked forward to the lively visit. The last time I saw Leo was about 5 years ago - he was still his lively self and we had some very interesting conversations about many subjects including thoroughbred horse racing -I have always loved engaging in conversation with him. He was intelligent and witty. I often think of him and the times we shared and will continue to do so. I must now say So long to a wonderful man.

Great Uncle Leo was a very kind caring man, loving and genuine. I nothing but happy memories of all our family gatherings from Christmas to BBQ's to Weddings and plays with Leo always singing and laughing. What a pleasure it was to have Leo around at Nutley Little Theatre. He was so supportive of all of us, and so sincerely complimentary when he came to see me sing with "doorjam," or the Beatle Sing-Alongs I performed with my sons. I'll miss him saying, "God Bless You," because he did so so sincerely. He was a true gentleman, and I'll miss him very much.

Leo, You will never be forgotten. I'll miss your sense of humor, lovely whistling (really, no one could whistle a song like Leo), and beautiful voice. I'll always remember you singing my favorite songs, "You Belong to my Heart," at George and my 50th Wedding Anniversary, and "Beautiful Dreamer," at my 80th Birthday. God Bless you Brother-in law. Uncle Leo was my kind of Uncle. From a very young age I was always impressed by his colorful lifestyle. He raced horses, he was a singer, an actor, a comedian, a man with multiple talents who loved to be in showbiz. To my knowledge, there are only a few people in the family that were born to entertain and he was the ultimate. I think about the fact that even though we lived on two different coasts for the majority of our lives, he always made the effort of visiting and staying in touch with his family who were so far away. This was truly a sign of love that he was easily capable of showing because of the man he was. He was one of a kind, no doubt about it.

Leo, the memories of good times down here in Virginia are too numerous to list. The old times were the best. The new times are complicated but you can say we hold on as long as we can. Though we seldom saw each other as of late we will miss just having you up there in "Jersey."

Uncle Leo was everyone’s favorite Uncle. He loved and was loved so deeply. He never hesitated to show how much he cared. We have so many wonderful memories of him. Some that I particularly treasure are him traveling to California and singing at my wedding; then my sister Nancy’s wedding; and most recently at my son Davy and daughter-in-law Deb’s wedding. He made the occasions more special by his being there and showing how much he cared. Uncle Leo will forever be in our hearts and minds.

Two Memories -
First:
Even as an adult, whenever we gathered at family functions, my Uncle Leo would often say to me,
"Remember when you were little, Darlene, and I came over your family's house during summers to swim in your pool with you and your brothers and sisters? You would always say, "Uncle Leo, Uncle Leo, look at me Uncle Leo!"
I said to him, "I know.... and I think you tried to dunk me because I wouldn't stop saying that all day!" We both laughed so hard.
Second:
Another memory was very recently. My Uncle Leo, my brother Michael, and I took a trip this past Fall to attend a special cousin's wedding in Capitola, California. Our cousin put us up in a beautiful suite which the three of us shared. During our stay there, while we were sitting in the dining area of the suite, I remarked how special it was for the three of us to be away together sitting here just talking about old times. I jokingly said to them both, (like the famous saying about Vegas), "We'll always have California!"
Little did I know how much more precious that time with him would mean to me now, because of his sudden passing. I love you Dear Uncle, you will never be forgotten. May God keep you in His care.
