Obituary of Joseph N Grossi

Grossi, Joseph N. age 96 of North Haledon at rest in Wayne on January 28, 2011. Beloved husband of the late and former Viola Chiappinielli (1991). Loving Father of Joseph D. Grossi and his wife Paula of North Haledon. Brother of Elmer Grossi of Paterson and the late Anthony, Carmine Jr., and Carmella Grossi. Grandfather of Kristine and her husband Nick and Melissa. Great Grandfather of Nicholas and Zachary. Born in Paterson, he lived in Paterson for most of his life before moving to North Haledon in 1991. He was a Police Lieutenant for Paterson Police Department, Paterson, before retiring. Mr. Grossi was a WW II Army veteran belonging to the Black Hawk 86th Infantry Division serving in Germany and the Philippines. He was a member of the Paterson Old Timers Association and the American Legion Pasquariello Post #187, Paterson. In addition, he was a member of the Paterson PBA, Local #1, and the NJ State PBA. Joseph played baseball, softball and football for various local teams. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa, on Monday at 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Gerard RC Church, Paterson at 10:00 AM. Entombment at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Paterson. Friends may call Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
