Obituary of Joseph LaRocca

LaRocca, Joseph, 93 member of Local Teamsters Union #945 at rest in Haledon on April 16, 2010. Husband of the late and former Jean Pissaro. Loving Father of Giacomo "Jack" LaRocca and his wife Randi of Toms River and Salvatrice "Sylvia" Shirey of Neptune. Survivors include four Grandchildren, a Great-grandchild and two Step-grandchildren. Born in Glenn Campbell, PA, he moved to LaVita Rosa, Palermo, Italy at the age of four where he was educated and played semi-pro soccer. In his late teens, he came to the US and settled in Woodland Park and was employed by the Lazzara Family of Paterson. In 1950, he joined Local Teamsters Union #945 where he worked for Universal Balast in Paterson for sixty years before retiring in 1988. He was the owner/operator of S&J Landscaping of Bergen County and Professional Office Cleaning Inc. in Paterson. He was an active parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes R. C. Church, riverside section of Paterson, and St. Paul's R.C. Church, Haledon. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 52 Totowa Road, Totowa, on Monday at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to Passaic Valley Hospice, 783 River Drive, PO Box 1007, Totowa, NJ 07513 would be appreciated.
