Vargas, Melva (nee Batista) age 79 of Paterson at rest in New York City on March 17, 2010. Former wife of Manuel Vargas, Sr. of Puerto Rico. Loving mother of Manuel Vargas, Jr. of Maywood, Maruja Suter of Lincoln Park, Edgar Vargas of Marlton, Edwin Vargas of Paterson and Giselle Bousquet of Haskell. Dear sister of Elia Batista of Panama and Lucinda Batista of Panama. Grandmother of Danielle, Trevin, Garrett, Bryton, Alex, Logan, Kameron, Nicole, Joshua, Vincent and Emily. Aunt of Ruby Duque, Iris Felton and Elizabeth Hayden. Born in Panama, she came to the United States in 1955 and lived most of her life in Paterson. She was a Homemaker and dedicated to her children. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd, Totowa, on Monday at 10:30 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. John's Cathedral, Paterson at 11:00 AM. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa. Friends may call Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
