For some reason, having another sleepless night last night, I was thinking of days gone by. Betty's name popped into my head. I did Betty's hair at Salon Fantasia in Totowa for many years, and when I left, she followed me to Paterno's in Wayne. I ended up moving to Florida, and when I moved back, 4 years later, I ran into her in a shopping mall. She was still going to Paterno's! I ended up working in Midland Park so I never saw her again after that. This was around 1977. She must have been around 60 years young, and I was about 31. It was so good to see her as she was always one of my favorite customers. I decided to google her name this morning, and was hoping not to find her obituary, but of course, she would be 98 years old by now, so I suppose it was not a surprise. I was happy to see her photo here, I can still see her YOUNG face in my mind. Betty, you were a joy to know, and I'll always remember you. Sorry when I frosted your hair that time, it was hurting you. In those days, we used that silly, tight, rubber cap. I hope you lived out the rest of your years in contentment. Love you, Betty, may you rest in peace, my friend.
