Obituary of Joseph S. Kuruc

Kuruc, Joseph S. age 83 of Totowa at rest in Totowa on October 2, 2009. As a child Joseph was a parishioner of St. Mary's R.C. Church and attended St. Mary's School. He was in the first graduating class 1943 of Pope Pius XII High School, and then spent two years in the US Navy aboard the USS Pittsburgh, heavy cruiser, in the Pacific. He married his high school girlfriend, the former Ann Englant, Nov. 9, 1946. For eighteen years they owned Deluxe Delicatessen on Lakeview Ave. in Clifton where they sold home made products. Joseph finished his college education at Seton Hall University becoming a Social Studies Department Chairman at Kinnelon Middle School for twenty years. He and his wife were tour arrangers for St. James Travel Group for twenty years until 2001. Joseph was a Eucharistic Minister at St. James R.C. Church for fifteen years. He was past president of the St. James School Educational Committee, a parishioner of St. James R.C. Church for fifty four years and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #6574, Totowa. He was also a W.W. II Navy Veteran and member of the V.F.W. Post #10104, Totowa. Survivors include his wife Ann of sixty two years. Daughters JoAnn of Arizona, Rosemarie of Butler, son William Jr. of Ramsey and wife June. Granddaughters Andrea, Anna, and Christina Proxenos and their father John Proxenos. Grandsons Kevin and Patrick Kuruc. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd, Totowa, on Tuesday at 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. James R.C. Church, Totowa at 10:00 AM. Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery, Saddle Brook. Friends may call Monday 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
