Obituary of William A. Sperry

Sperry, William A., Jr., age 71 of Parsippany at rest in Dover on January 2, 2009 after a short illness. He was born in the Hillcrest Section of Paterson on August 2, 1937, where he was also raised. He was the son of Theresa (nee Grossi) and William Sperry. He attended Westside Methodist Church of West Paterson. After attending the Paterson School System, William served with the United States Air Force from 1955-1959, completing an overseas tour in Africa with the Strategic Air Command. Mr. Sperry moved to Parsippany in 1965. He recently retired from the United Parcel Service, Parsippany after 20 years of service. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local #177, Hillside, and A.C.T.W.U.- AFL-CIO, Local #1733, Paterson. His prior employment included Old Deerfield Fabrics of Cedar Grove, and for many years, he was the co-owner of Hilltop Eesso in Totowa with his brother. Mr. Sperry is survived by his wife of 43 years, Grace Chadwick-Sperry of Parsippany, and his brother Thomas Sperry of Landing. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd, Totowa, on Tuesday at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow at Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa. Friends may call Monday 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
