Obituary of Richard M. Andrews

ANDREWSRichard M. departed this life on Saturday, December 13, 2008. Born 80 years ago in Jersey City, he resided in Totowa for 40 years together with his beloved wife Johanna (Lombardo), where family and home were always treasured. A devoted father, he was a loving mentor to his son Richard P. with whom he shared a knowledge of all things practical as well as adventures to spark the imagination. As a dear dad he was a dayspring of strength providing comfort and support to his daughters Deborah Caggiano and her late husband Les, Denice Drozd and her husband John, and Darlene Doperak and her husband Joseph. Cherished by his grandchildren David, Elizabeth, Jeremy and his wife Krissy, Justin, and Maryanne and her husband Matt, he will always be remembered with a smile. His heart overflowed with affection for his great-grandchildren Rylee, Shaun, Brayden, Noelle, and Max. Survivors include his sister Peggy Rupp and her husband Robert as well as many nephews and nieces. After retiring as a freight agent for Lackawanna Railroad, he worked as an electrical service representative for various companies in the area. Richard was known in the community to lend a hand and "fix-it," and as his health declined in recent years, good neighbors often came to his side to offer help. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. James R.C. Church, Totowa on Tuesday at 10:30 AM. Entombment at Laurel Grove Mausoleum, Totowa.
