Obituary of William J. De Maria

De Maria, William "Bill" J. age 85 of Paterson at rest peacefully at home on November 9, 2008. Beloved husband of the former Rosalind A. Ramundo. Father of Ann Y. Kelly and her husband Rocco of Neptune and Donna L. Rodrigues and her husband Mark of Rockaway. Granfather of Morgan, Samantha and Christine Kelly and Tyler, Amanda and Ashley Rodrigues. Brother of Marian Cerrato of Tampa, FL and Frank De Maria of Beverly Hills, FL. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Born in Paterson, he was a lifelong resident. He was a Musician for the American Federation of Musicians Local #248, Paterson for many years before retiring in 1985. He also taught piano. Mr. De Maria won 1st Place in a N.Y. State piano competition and a scholarship to private Alleghany High School. He attended St. Bonaventure College, Olean, N.Y. on a scholarship. He was a renowned musician in all segments of music. He played in many well-known area restaurants including Villa D'Este, The Bethwood, Mayfair Farms, and N.Y. cafes as well as Scordatos where he played for former President Nixon and his family. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the services at the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa, on Thursday at 10:30 AM. Cremation will be private at the request of the family.
