Just wanted to let you know that I'm still thinking of you Yaya. I wish you could've been with us on Easter and for everything else. I miss you and all of your cooking. Mom still can't make pasta peas as good as you can. I wish you could be at my graduation but I'm sure you'll be watching.. Only 2 more months until I'm out of there! Can you believe it!? (: I'm looking forward to the next time you visit me in my dreams.. I love you so unbelievably much, forever and always.

What great memories we all had from the Totowa pool and Aunt Etta making us her special 'slush' recipe. It was de-lish. She was one person who touched all of us and never had a bad word to say about anyone. We love Aunt Etta.

yaya i dont know how im holding up as well as i am without you here. i still cant believe that this is real and life will never be the same for me. you were more than a grandma to me- you were more like my second mom. you helped raise me and ever since i was a baby we were "inseperable", as mom calls us. we have had so many good memories together that i wish i could remember every single one. i still remember naming you yaya and how you kept it ever since. you helped give me the best life i could've imagined and i'm going to make you proud, i promise. i dont know what i'm going to do without you and i would do anything to have more time. but life's not fair, so i guess i'll have to deal with the time we had and that you're now my guardian angel. i better not write too much but i'm just going to say that i'm going to miss how you always made me laugh, your incredible cooking, your strength through it all, how you always told me how much you loved me, and just how much of an amazing person you are. thank you for being the best grandma a girl could have. love always, your punkin

Mommy - you and daddy made me a better person, a better parent. From you I learned how to be a mom - how to love and laugh, how to celebrate family, friends, and traditions. You passed now because you reached a perfect place after all your last years of suffering - but that suffering never dimmed your smile and your huge heart of love for your kids, grandkids, family, and friends. Your spirit is a strong, vibrant one - evidenced in your wonderful 8 grandchildren. Your spirit is within us, around us, fighting for us and we'll love you forever. Enjoy daddy and all your passed loved ones.
You are still and always with me, till our spirits meet again.

Peter Meany posted a condolence
In memory of Etta and to Etta's family, some humle words:
You would know the secret of death.
But how shall you find it unless you seek it in the heart of life?
The owl whose night-bound eyes are blind unto the day cannot unveil the mystery of light.
If you would indeed behold the spirit of death, open your heart wide unto the body of life.
For life and death are one, even as the river and the sea are one.
In the depth of your hopes and desires lies your silent knowledge of the beyond;
And like seeds dreaming beneath the snow your heart dreams of spring.
Trust the dreams, for in them is hidden the gate to eternity.
Your fear of death is but the trembling of the shepherd when he stands before the king whose hand is to be laid upon him in honour.
Is the shepherd not joyful beneath his trembling, that he shall wear the mark of the king?
Yet is he not more mindful of his trembling?
For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the sun?
And what is it to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides, that it may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered?
Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing.
And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb.
And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance.

My mom remembers that when she first came from Italy, Etta was so good to her and tried to help her adjust to the "newness" of America for her. As for me my fondest memories when I was growing up was of all the holidays we shared around Aunt Sadie's table as a family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Take comfort in each other. God bless all of you in your time of grief.
