Obituary of Leonard Verhagen

Verhagen, Jr., Leonard, "Lenny" "Pa" age 70 of Wayne at rest in Newark on August 18, 2017. Beloved husband of Roseann L. (nee De Lade) Verhagen of Wayne. Loving father of Tara Martinez and her husband Michael of Totowa and Erin Verhagen and her longtime companion Nelson Delapaz of Totowa. Dear grandfather of Michael Martinez, Samantha Martinez, Ariana Padilla, Emily Martinez and Natalie Delapaz. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Born in Paterson, he lived in the Riverside section of Paterson, before moving to Wayne 38 years ago. He was a Sales Engineer for Edwards Engineering, Pompton Plains for many years before retiring in 2009. Mr. Verhagen was an Army veteran during Vietnam War. He was an avid Miami Dolphin Fan. He enjoyed the Jersey Shore and loved to fish. His swimming pool was his prize possession. He loved all animals and cherished time spent with his grandchildren and was always there for them. His family was his life. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa, on Monday at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow at Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa. Friends may visit Sunday 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and/or North Shore Animal League, 25 Davis Avenue, Port Washington, NY 11050 would be appreciated.
