Obituary of Roy Lewis Cattaneo

Cattaneo, Roy Lewis age 61 of Wind Gap, PA at rest in Bethlehem, PA on October 3, 2014. Loving father of Melissa Tran and her husband Ty, and Nicholas Cattaneo and his wife, Beth. Dear son of Joan (Perino) and the late Dante Cattaneo (2000), parents he dearly loved and honored. Former husband of Julie Cattaneo, with whom he maintained a caring relationship and remained best friends. Brother of Larry Cattaneo, with whom he enjoyed many good times. Nephew of Yvonne Allaya. Survivors include several cousins in NJ, PA and AZ. Born in Paterson, he lived there until 1955, then in Totowa until 1963 before eventually settling in Wind Gap, PA, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree from William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ. Roy was a Material Handler for Crayola, Easton, PA for the past twenty-four years. He was also an all-around sports enthusiast, sharing his passion with his son, Nick, and further strengthening the special bond that they shared. Roy had a particular enthusiasm for Ohio State, the university from which his son, Nick, graduated. Although he was only 6 feet three inches he was described by many as a gentle giant. Roy always seemed larger than life filling a room with brightness and joy. He could make everything better in one crushing bear hug. Roy never hesitated to be there for his children whether it was in moments of play, heartache or joy. He was playful, joyful and fun with all who knew him both big and small. Roy donated to the Gift of Life helping many live better and more complete lives. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa, on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 3:00 PM. Cremation is private at the request of the family. Friends may visit Saturday, October 11, 2014 from 1-4 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made in his name to either the National Blood Clot Alliance (http://www.stoptheclot.org/) or The Wounded Warrior Project (http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/) for which Roy was very passionate about.
