Grandfather of Joe and Jackie Scala, Michelle, Valerie, and Justine Caniglia, and Joey, Samantha, and Nicolas Mays. Brother of Catherine Darder, Rose Rotella, and Patricia Sferruzza . Born in Paterson, NJ he lived in Totowa the past 35 years He was a Draftsman for Grandview Structural Steel Co., Lodi, NJ for 30 years. After that, he worked for Laurencelle Associates, Springfield. Mr. Scala was a parishioner of St. James R.C. Church, Totowa and was a Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Survivors include: His wife: Helen (nee Darder) of Totowa Two daughters: Francine Caniglia of Denville, NJ, Karen Mays of West Milford, NJ Two sons: Joseph Scala of Pequannock, NJ, Ken Scala of West Milford, NJ Three sisters: Catherine Darder of Illinois Rose Rotella of Pennsylvania Patricia Sferruzza of Stanhope, NJ Also survived by 8 grandchildren.
