Obituary of Joseph M. Pizza

Pizza, Joseph M. age 89 of Paterson at rest in Wayne on February 24, 2009. Born in Hackensack, he lived in Paterson for most of his life. He was a Tailor for Ritz Tailor Shop, Paterson for 51 years before retiring 10 years ago. Mr. Pizza was a parishioner of St. Gerard R.C. Church, Paterson. He was a 4th Degree member with the Knights of Columbus and was a member of the Alahambra Aurora Caravan #55. He belonged to the 19 Hearts Society of the Federation of Italian Societies and was a former Commissioner of the Paterson Housing Authority. He was the Chairman of the Paterson Flood Fund and was the President of Peoples Park Neighborhood Association. He was called the Mayor of 21st Ave. and was a member of the Friends and Neighbors of 21st Ave. He was a longtime member of the St. Anthony's Choir Paterson and was the President of the JMP Civic Association. Beloved husband of the former Marion Rinaldi of Paterson. Loving Father of Ernest M. Pizza & his wife, Susan of Wayne, Joseph A. Pizza & his wife, Karen of Toms River, Leonard D. Pizza & Betty Jane Panos of Parsippany, and Marion S. Flotard & her husband, Dave of New Milford. Brother of George Pizza of Wayne and the late Anna and Salvatore Pizza. Survivors include 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd, Totowa, on Friday at 10:00 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Gerard RC Church, Paterson at 10:30 AM. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum, Totowa. Friends may call Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
