Gambatese, Ralph P. Mr. Paterson age 91 of Paterson at rest in Wayne on May 8, 2008. Born in Paterson, he was a lifelong resident. Mr. Gambatese was the Deputy Mayor for the City of Paterson. Prior to that, he was a Clerk for the Passaic County Board of Freeholders. Formerly, he was a Purchasing Agent for Passaic County and was an agent for the Internal Revenue Service, Paterson. He was a sergeant in the US Army during World War II, and was a member and Past Commander of the American Legion Post 187, Paterson. He was the President of the Paterson Veterans Association. He was currently an Aide to Senator John Girgenti and was a member of the Passaic County Democratic Organization as well as a Democratic Committeeman. Ralph was a parishioner of St. Gerard RC Church, Paterson and was a member of the Riverside Veterans Organization. Beloved husband of the late Pauline (nee Pirolo) Gambatese and the late Elizabeth Betty (nee Neal) Gambatese. Loving Father of Ralph P. Gambatese Jr. and the late Charles Gambatese. Father in law of Emily Gambatese. Brother of Lillian Liguori and the late Pete and Angelo Gambatese. Brother in law of the late Pasquale Liguori. Dear Companion of Isabella Zakim. Stepfather of Neal, Michael, and David Hancock. Also survived by 14 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd, Totowa, on Monday at 9:15 AM. Funeral mass to follow at St. Gerard RC Church, Paterson at 10:00 AM. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa. Friends may call Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
