Carbone, Marco age 54 of Paterson at rest unexpectedly on June 21, 2026 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Paterson. Beloved son of the late Leandro "Orfeo" and Pasqualina "Lina" (nee Romaniello) Carbone of Paterson. Loving brother of Ray Carbone and his partner Rachel Johnson of Hillsborough. Dear uncle of Dimitri V. Carbone and Aleinna V. Carbone. Also surviving are many cousins, Aunts, uncles and friends, both here and in Italy. Born in Wayne, Marco was a lifelong resident of Paterson. Marco was a Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service, Fair Lawn, actively employed. He was dedicated to his work for over twenty years after running a successful business with his mother in Caldwell. Marco was a simple man in the best sense—he had no use for flashy things and treasured what was genuine: family, travel, soccer, and a good bike ride. A devoted son to his mother and a loving brother, cousin, and uncle, he had a warmth that drew people in, and anyone who knew him was the better for his company.

His great passion was travel. For more than twenty years he frequently set off on his own to explore the world, often for weeks at a time. He journeyed through Europe, Africa, Asia, South America, and Mexico, but his heart belonged to Italy, where he traveled up and down the coast, hopping trains from town to town for the simple joy of discovery. No matter how far he roamed, he always came home thinking of his niece and nephew, Aleinna and Dimitri, whom he adored—never returning without a shirt for each of them. He was a caring, nurturing uncle.

A lifelong soccer fan, Marco never missed an Italian or U.S. match, and it feels especially fitting that he leaves us during the World Cup. Marco loved helping his mother in the garden, and spending time with his family. He was a generous, affable, beloved member of a large extended family. He will be remembered for his quiet warmth, his adventurous spirit, and the genuine way he moved through the world. He will be deeply missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa, on Friday, June 26, 2026 at 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. James R.C. Church, Totowa at 10:00 AM. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum, Totowa. Friends may visit on Thursday, June 25, 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
