Loving father of Michael Cassanelli of Long Beach, CA., Daniela Cassanelli of Totowa, Catherine Cassanelli of San Diego, CA. and Frank Paul Cassanelli and his wife Megan of Woodland Park. Dear grandfather of Carina Cassanelli. Brother of Damiano Cassanelli of Wallington and Maria De Nicolo (nee Cassanelli) of Milan, Italy. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and his beloved pet dog, Spike. Born on November 14, 1947 in Molfetta, Prov. di Bari, Italy, as the youngest of nine children, he came to the U.S.A. in 1972 settling in Hoboken before moving to Totowa in 1985. He built a life as a hardworking entrepreneur in Totowa, New Jersey. For many years, he was dedicated to his craft as a talented and skilled tailor. When he wasn't in front of the sewing machine, he spent his time caring for his family, showering hugs and kisses on his beautiful granddaughter and scratching away at lots of lottery tickets. He was also a longtime member of the Juventus Soccer Club in Hoboken, NJ, where he enjoyed spending time with friends. Above all, Mike was a loving and generous father — there was nothing he wouldn't do for his children. Mike will be remembered for his kindness, his humorous and lighthearted spirit and his forever young mentality. A life well-lived and deeply loved, Michele "Mike" Cassanelli will be forever in the hearts of all who knew him. Cremation was private. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral mass at St. James R.C. Church, Totowa on Thursday, May 21st at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38150 would be appreciated.
