Helen P. Capano (née Roszczewski), age 100, of Woodland Park, passed away peacefully in Columbia, NJ on March 8, 2026, just three days shy of her 101st birthday. She was the beloved wife for 65 years of the late Henry E. Capano (2011). Loving mother of Kathryn M. Grosso and her husband Emil of Wyckoff, Henry R. Capano and his wife Janice of Washington, Kenneth J. Capano and his wife Jean of Groton, CT, Matthew T. Capano and his wife Donna of Columbia, and the late Richard Capano (1984) and his wife Carolyn. Helen was the proud grandmother of 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Anne, her great-granddaughter Jashira, and her siblings Henry, Leocadia, Adolph, and Julia. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Born in Paterson, NJ, Helen moved to West Paterson in 1954 with her husband Hank, where they raised their family. In the early years of their marriage, she was owner of Highview Fashions in West Paterson. Helen was a devoted homemaker and was known by many as an exceptional cook who brought family and friends together around her table. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and proudly visited 47 of the 48 continental United States in their RV. Above all, she cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and she was deeply proud of her Polish heritage. Helen was a longtime parishioner of St. Bonaventure R.C. Church in Paterson. Relatives and friends may visit on Saturday from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa. A Funeral Mass will follow at St. Bonaventure R.C. Church, Paterson at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow at Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen's memory to St. Bonaventure R.C. Church, 174 Ramsey Street, Paterson, NJ 07501.
