Jose R. Velasco, lovingly known as Papi Jose, passed away peacefully surrounded by love, leaving behind a powerful legacy of devotion, strength, respect, and unwavering family values.
Jose was an extraordinary man, a devoted father and grandfather, and truly the heart of his family. He found joy in life’s simple yet meaningful moments—being outdoors, enjoying nature, swimming, tending to his garden, and, above all, spending time with those he loved most. He had a wonderful sense of humor and delighted in joking and playing pranks, especially with his children and grandchildren. Their laughter and happiness meant everything to him.
In 1978, Jose immigrated to the United States with a dream of building a better life for his family—a dream he fulfilled through hard work, sacrifice, and steadfast dedication. He was a provider, protector, and source of strength, whose perseverance and selflessness shaped generations. The values he lived by will continue to guide and inspire all who were blessed to know him.
Jose was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ana; his son, Jose; and his parents, Leopoldo Velasco Hernández and Natividad Araujo de Velasco. He is survived by his loving daughters, Judith Sausa and Susan Velasco; his cherished grandchildren, Gabriella Roque (husband Jonathan), Kevin Sausa, and Stephanie Sausa; ten siblings; and many extended family members and dear friends who will carry his memory in their hearts forever.
Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, his family finds comfort in knowing he is now reunited with his wife and son, resting in eternal peace. His spirit, love, and guidance will live on through his children, grandchildren, and all whose lives he touched.
The family sincerely thanks everyone for their love, prayers, and support during this difficult time.
Jose Velasco will be deeply missed and forever remembered. May he rest in eternal peace.
