Bavaro, Stanley "Stosh" age 77 of Woodland Park at rest in Pequannock on November 29, 2025. Beloved husband of Charlene (nee Bagatti) Bavaro. Loving father of John Bavaro and his wife Cheryl. Adoring grandfather of Nathan, Colby, Lucas, and Aubree. Brother of Pasquale Bavaro and Armando Bavaro of Italy, and Vincent Bavaro, Sammy Bavaro, and Josephine Kiernan. Dear son of the late Giuseppe and the late Maria (nee Medugno) Bavaro. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Born in Montefredane, Italy he lived in Italy for 6 years before immigrating to the United States and settling in Paterson before moving to Woodland Park. Stosh served in the United States Army stationed in Germany from 1969-1971. He was a physical education teacher for the Paterson Board of Education at School #2 for 29 years before retiring in 2003. He was a long-time parishioner and usher at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Clifton. He was a member of The Old Timer's Athletic Association of Greater Paterson, the IAABO Board 33 basketball association, Passaic/Sussex Soccer Official's Association, the Bergen County Umpire's Association, the Bergen County Soccer Official's Association, the North Jersey Umpire's Association, National Education Association, NJ Retirees Education Association and also Passaic County Retirees Education Association. He was a high school soccer official, basketball referee, and baseball and softball umpire for 40 years. He's also the former head soccer coach at Eastside High School in Paterson, and the assistant soccer coach at Kennedy High School in Paterson. Stanley was an inductee into the William Paterson Soccer HOF and the Old Timers Soccer HOF. He was also a former Passaic County Coach of the Year at Eastside High School in Paterson. Stosh also played basketball, soccer and baseball at the varsity level during his high school tenure. His love of the United States, the city of Paterson and his love of sports, especially soccer, were second to none. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa, on Thursday at 9:15 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Clifton at 10:00 AM. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum, Totowa. Friends may visit Wednesday 3-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Heart/Stroke Association and/or the American Lung Association, would be appreciated.
