Joseph M. Matano, Jr., 80, of Wayne passed away on October 28, 2025. He was born in Paterson, NJ on February 2nd, 1945 to the late Joseph and Minnie (Domenica) Matano. Joe was raised in Totowa, NJ and spent most of his life there. After graduating high school, he served in the navy as a chaplain's assistant during the Vietnam war. Joe spent his career in business machine sales, working for several companies where he received numerous awards for achieving top sales, before establishing and operating his own business.
Joe will be remembered for his sense of humor and how he could make everyone laugh with his entertaining stories. He loved fishing, cars, and spending time at the racetrack and Atlantic City with friends and family. Always young at heart, children loved him.
He will be dearly missed by his children, Wendy Shortino and her husband, Bryan, his sons, Joseph and Jason, and his grandchildren, Samantha, Sydney, Jason, and Kristopher. He is also survived by his brother, Gary, and his wife, Alena, his sister, Linda Ehrmann and her husband, Chuck, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday from 10 am – 1 pm at Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Boulevard, Totowa followed by a repast. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Parkinson's Foundation would be appreciated.
