Marcella Schembari (née Pirelli), age 75, of Wayne, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025. Beloved mother of her daughter, Sandra Zazzera, and her son, Marco Schembari, and their spouses, Joseph and Sheryl. Former wife of Salvatore Schembari. Cherished grandmother of Nina, Dante, and Anthony Zazzera. Dear sister of Adriana DePiano, Marisa Pirelli, and Linda Papaleo, and the late Antonietta Di Marzio, Mario Pirelli, and Vincenzo Pirelli. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and her adored great-granddogs and great-grandcats. Born in Sant' Andrea Apostolo Della Ionio, Calabria, Italy, Marcella came to the United States in 1967 with hopes of building a better life. She made her home in West Paterson, where she raised her family, before recently retiring in Wayne. Marcella was known for her strength, independence, selflessness, and generous heart. She was deeply proud of her Italian heritage and found her greatest joy in sharing it with others—especially through her incredible home-cooked meals, each made with her secret ingredient: love. She treasured long conversations with family and friends, especially over the phone, and found simple happiness in her beloved knick-knacks—particularly anything adorned with monkeys. Marcella will be remembered for the warmth she brought to every room, her unwavering care for others, and the love she gave so freely to all who knew her. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa, on Saturday from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa.
