Fernandez, Rocio "Ro" age 59 of Hackensack at rest in Hackensack on October 13, 2025. Loving mother of Douglas J. Sanchez of Caldwell and Grant J. Sanchez and his wife Priscilia of Fairfax, VA. Dear "Glammy" of Emilia Sanchez. Sister of Patty Deitrick of Dallas, TX., Evelyn Rosa of Kissimmee, FL. and Peter Fernandez of FL. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Born in Cali, Colombia, she came to the U.S.A. in 1973 settling in Paterson before moving to Hackensack seven years ago. She was an ESL Teacher for the Barringer School, Newark for the past three years. Prior to that, Ro was the Dean of Discipline for the Paterson Board of Education, School # 11 for many years. She had a love for travel, the performing arts and photography. She attended Mary Help of Christians Academy and was a long-standing companion and advocate of the Salesian sisters. Her main passion was molding and guiding her students into wonderful young men and women. She always enjoyed the sun, the sand and clear blue water. To many she was a friend, sister, daughter, mother but to one she was "Glammy" not grandma. Her spirit, guidance, teachings, practices, and love will live on forever through the ones who loved her. Relatives and friends may visit on Sunday, October 19, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa. A prayer service will held at 7:00 PM. Cremation will be private.
