Paula B. Houck (nee Bergmann), age 80, passed away on October 2, 2025 in Bridgewater, NJ. Beloved wife of Walter D. Houck, loving mother of Gregory Brown, and fond grandmother of Jonathan Rissmiller. She loved her brother and sisters—Johnny, Rosemary, and Charlene—and their children: Ronald Zasadzinski, Regina Zasadzinski and her partner Gregory Barnes.
Born in Paterson to the late John A. and Rose Marie (nee Postma) Bergmann, she lived in New Jersey and Virginia before moving to Sussex in 2001 and then to Bridgewater. Paula received her undergraduate degree from Montclair State University and her PhD in Psychology from Seton Hall University. She was a Peace Corps volunteer before moving on to her career as a school psychologist for the State of New Jersey. She retired in 2005 to start her private practice, working with children and their families.
Remembered for her kind heart, loving spirit, and accepting nature, she loved family, education, the arts, travel (especially to St. John in the Virgin Islands) and music. Although Paula's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
