Zavala, Luz Hortensia age 71 of Homestead, Florida on September 14, 2025. Loving mother of Christian Zavala & his wife Michelle Sandra Ortega-Zavala and Carla Zavala. Dear daughter of the late Cesar and the late Hortencia (nee Chatter) Zavala. Loving sister of Mary Zavala, Hilda Gonzalez, Graciela Balta, Ana Cadena and Hortencia Vidal. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Born in Lima, Peru she came to the United States in 1978 and briefly resided in Paterson before moving to Florida. Luz was a self-employed sales representative in Florida. She was a parishioner of St. Martin R.C. Church, Homestead, Florida and was a member of its Missionaria de la Virgin. She was very active in the church, giving and helping in many ways. Luz loved gardening and enjoyed Tai Chi. A cremation will take place in Florida. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a mass of the Ressurection at  St. Mary's R.C. Church, Paterson on Wednesday, October15, 2025 at 10:00 AM. Interment of cremains will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa. Arrangements are by Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa.
