Jack Papageorgis Obituary

Jack Papageorgis age 92 of Paterson passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025. Born in Gaitani, Zakynthos, Greece, he came to the United States in 1951 residing in Paterson. Jack worked at Libby's in Paterson as soon as he arrived and then as a cook and manager before becoming the owner for over 20 years. He then worked for Sodexho-Marriott, William Paterson University for over 30 years before retiring at 89 years of age. He graduated from Seton Hall University with a BA degree in 1974. He received an MBA degree in Management from Fairleigh Dickenson University in 1978. He then received an MBA in International Relations from Seton Hall University in 1983 and another MBA in 1987 in Industrial Relations.


Jack was very laid back and relaxed, but stubborn. He loved to dance and have a good time. He was always catching someone's ear about the stock market or the importance of college.


In 2019, he received the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award as a leader in the food industry. He belonged to the Panzakynthian Brotherhood as the Vice President and he belonged to the American Hellenic Progressive Association. Jack enjoyed running and reading.


Loving Father of Marie Lachanski & her husband Ed and their children Katie and Jack of Randolph. Dear brother of the late Panayoti Papageorgis and the late Basilis Papageorgis. Caring uncle of Vasiliki Sinetos and her husband Pavlos and their children Alexis and Dionysious. Jack is preceded in death by his best friend, John Gigantes, whose family was Jack's extended family in America. All services are private at the request of the family.
