Louis Bensi

Bensi, Louis age 90 of Paterson passed away on 2/22/22. He was born 8/7/31 in Paterson where he resided all of his life. He was very active in Mary Help of Christians R.C. Church, volunteering at the church picnics, Bingo, and an usher at the 5:30 Mass. He had 2 jobs in his life, Beacon Blind Co., and Federal Supply Corp. He was a Life Member of the Knights of Columbus Council #6805 for over 41 years until transferring to Frank O'Byrne #240 Council 6 years ago. He was the Past Grand Knight for multiple terms, and served 5 years as District Deputy. He was a 4th Degree Member of the Msgr. Stein Assembly, Faithful Navigator and stood honor guard with the Color Corp for many years. He was a District Marshall, and a Battalion Aide to 5 different Masters. He was on the Degree Team serving as Warden for many years. He was a Life Member of the Passaic Valley Elks Lodge 2111 and a past member of the American Legion Post 227, Totowa. He was a Past President of St. Mary's Holy Name Society. He served in the United States Marine Corp for 6 years during the Korean War becoming discharged as Corporal. He received the Presidential Unit Battle Stars, the Republic of Korean War Service Medal, the China Service Medal, and the Distinguished Military Medal. Louis is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Dorothy Bensi, 2 daughters Linda A. Bensi & Diane (Bensi) Heese & husband Peter. His son, Louis M. Bensi predeceased him at a young age.  He was also predeceased by his sister, Doris Gibbons. He is survived by daughter in law Laurie and grandson, Nicolas & niece Barbara J. Gibbons. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home 111 Union Blvd., Totowa on Monday at 10:30 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Mary Help of Christians R.C. Church, 410 Union Avenue, Paterson at 11:00 AM. Interment at Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-6 PM at Festa Memorial Funeral Home, Totowa. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Mary's R.C. Church 410 Union Avenue, Paterson, would be appreciated.
