Appio, Rosa "Rosina" (nee Andriulli), age 83 of Totowa at rest in Hackensack on September 2, 2017. Beloved wife of fifty seven years of Nunzio E. Appio Sr. of Totowa. Loving Mother of Rosanna Appio of Basking Ridge, Joseph Appio and his significant other Karen Bernal of Totowa, Angelo Appio and his wife Carrie of Pembroke Pines, FL. and Nunzio E. Appio Jr. and his wife Cathleen of Caldwell. Dear grandmother of Dr. Melissa Appio-Martin M.D. and her husband Chris, Joseph Appio Jr., Toniann Appio, Alexis Appio, Avery Appio, Molly Appio, Michael Appio and Mason Appio. Dear great grandmother of Emily Martin. Beloved sister in law of Maria Moretti, Lucia Cantarella, Anna Pacente and Mary Andriulli. Former mother in law of Darlene Appio. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Born in Montescaglioso, Prov. di Matera, Italy, she immigrated to the U.S.A. with her husband Nunzio on their first wedding anniversary; Sept. 28, 1961 settling in Paterson before moving to Totowa forty years ago. She was the youngest of nine children. Rosa was a Cafeteria Worker for the Wayne Board of Education at Wayne Hills High School for many years before retiring in 2002. She was a parishioner of St. Anthony R.C. Church, Paterson and St. James R.C. Church, Totowa. She was a member of the San Rocco society of Paterson. Rosa, as an expert seamstress, made Wedding, Christening and Communion dresses. Sewing was her passion. She was a fantastic cook and she jarred her own home grown tomatoes. Rosa loved to travel and cruise. She loved dancing with her husband and watching Cosmos soccer with him. She was a very generous and giving person. She cherished time spent with her family and grandchildren. Rosa was a mother to all. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa, on Thursday at 8:45 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. James R.C. Church, Totowa at 9:30 AM. Entombment at Laurel Grove Memorial Park Mausoleum, Totowa. Relatives and friends may visit Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
