Obituary of G. Robert Barbieri

BARBIERI, G. Robert “Bob” Jr, age 65 of Totowa at rest in Paterson on May 17, 2017.  Beloved husband of the late Maria L (nee Allen) Barbieri (2016).  Loving father of Matthew Barbieri and fiancé Danielle Massaro of Totowa, Justin Barbieri and wife Alicia of Woodland Park, Michele Grote and husband John of Toms River, and Melanie Barbieri of Totowa.  Cherished grandfather of Alex, Matthew, Nicholas, Ella, and Jack.  Born in Paterson, he was a lifelong resident of Totowa.  He dedicated most of his life to volunteering in the Emergency Medical Services field.  He proudly served his community for 47 years as an EMT on the Totowa First Aid Squad.  He has held every position in the organization over the years, most recently serving as President.  He was also the Director of First Aid for the Borough of Totowa.  He served as a delegate, treasurer, and member of various committees for the EMS Council of New Jersey, 17th District for many years.  Early on, he was a first aid instructor for the Red Cross and eventually became an EMT instructor in the early 1980’s. Bob worked at Barnert Hospital and then Chilton Memorial Hospital for many years as a Nuclear Medicine Technician before becoming a dispatcher for AAA North Jersey in Wayne, where he has worked for the past 11 years.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at the Festa Memoria Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd, Totowa, on Tuesday at 10:00 AM.  Cremation will be private.  Friends may visit Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Totowa First Aid Squad, PO Box 619, Totowa, NJ 07511 and/or Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, 1250 1st Ave, New York, NY 10065 would be appreciated.  For more information, visit www.festamemorial.com.
