Obituary of Rose Marie Gourley

Gourley, Rose Marie (nee Avolio), age 89 of Totowa at rest in Englewood on January 23, 2017. Beloved wife of the late William F. Gourley (1971). Loving mother of Geri Gourley of Englewood and the late William Patrick Gourley (2009). Dear grandmother of Derek Flics and his fiancée Staci Ortiz of Astoria, Queens and Grant Gourley of Cliffside Park. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Born in Paterson, she lived lifelong in Totowa. She was an Employee of Hanson & Ryan Insurance Company, Totowa for twelve years before retiring in 1989. Mrs. Gourley was a member and secretary for the Totowa Happy Seniors and was a member of the Passaic Valley Elks Lodge #2111, Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid reader and loved literature and spent much of her time at the Totowa Library. She loved good cinema. She supported women's rights and civil rights and was very progressive in her thinking. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa, on Friday at 11:30 AM. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa. Relatives and friends may visit Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM. Donations in her memory may be made to Planned Parenthood.
