Obituary of Josephine E Marsi

Marsi, Josephine, (nee Mucedola) age 97, passed away peacefully at her home on July 23. "Josie" was born March 20, 1919 in New York City, the third child of first generation immigrants Amelia and Alfonso Mucedola. She spent most of her childhood in Fair Lawn, where she developed an interest in theater, performing in several school plays. After attending Fair Lawn High School, she worked on the factory floor at Bright Star Battery. During this time, she met the love of her life, Vincent Marsi, whom she wed August 14, 1949. They then moved to Paterson before moving to Totowa fifty seven years ago. The pair enjoyed sixty five years together until Vincent's passing in 2015. Josephine was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook, who will be most remembered for her famous Sunday dinners that brought the family together. She also enjoyed her flower garden. Josephine is survived by five children, Robert Marsi, Joann Pavero and her husband David, Donna Collins and her husband David, Janet Filko and her husband Rudolph and Vincent Marsi Jr., five grandchildren, Thomas, Lindsey, Ryan, Christopher and Steven. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. She was pre deceased by her two sisters, Florence and Sarah. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa on Tuesday at 12:00 PM. Interment to follow at Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa. Relatives and friends may visit Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 12:00PM.
