Hancock, Edward J. age 87 of Paterson at rest in Paterson on May 16, 2016. Beloved husband of fifty seven years of the late and former Josephine "Jay" Mardo (2014). Loving father of Edward Hancock of Paterson and Kevin R. Hancock and his wife Patty of Hawthorne. Dear grandfather of Kevin Scott Hancock of Paterson. Brother of Betty Wenzel of Rhode Island, Jean Mc Namara of Zepher Hills, FL. and the late William Hancock (2012). Born in Paterson, he was a lifelong city resident. Mr. Hancock retired as a Deputy Fire Chief from the Paterson Fire Department after thirty seven years of service. He was a Corporal in the U.S. Army serving in the 4th Signal Battalion during the Korean War. He was a parishioner of St. Gerard R.C. Church, Paterson. He was a graduate of William Paterson College in 1978. Mr. Hancock was a devout family man. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa, on Friday at 8:45 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Gerard R.C. Church, Paterson at 9:30 AM. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa. Relatives and friends may visit Thursday 4:00 - 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Gerard Majella R.C. Church, 501 West Broadway, Paterson, N.J. 07522 would be greatly appreciated.
