Chappellie, Constantino "Chip the Mailman" age 87 of Paterson at rest in Wayne on January 3, 2018. Chip was born in Swoyersville, PA. He started his postal career in Pontiac, Michigan. He later moved to Paterson, where he continued his career, retiring after 32 years. During his time working in Paterson, he spent 25 years in the Peoples Park area and the last 15 years working in the Governor Towers where he lived. He served 890 patrons daily on his appointed rounds. He was always friendly and courteous, and extended himself beyond his normal duties. He would buy stamps, mail packages, and help whenever needed. He would even console a senior citizen in need. He received two Heroic Act Awards, and three Special Achievement Awards for his excellence as a carrier. He served in the U.S. Navy and was the three time commander of the Post Office War Veteran's League. He also spent 6 years in it's color guard. Chip served 3 years as the secretary of the Lou Costello Boxing Club, where his son, Albert was a fighter. The club was devoted to all youth, and kept them off the streets. He and his wife Rose Chris helped to start the Boys Club on 21st Avenue. They also belonged to the Peoples Park Neighborhood Association. They participated in the Paterson Crime Watch on 21st Avenue, assisting residents, patrol, traffic and safety. He and his wife were past Presidents of St. Anthony's Church Leisure Club. Chip was also an usher at St. Anthony's Church for 20 years. He was also a parishioner and usher at St. Stephen's R.C. Church, Paterson. He leaves behind two sons, Albert and his wife Rosemary of Clifton, and William Priestly of Paterson. He is also survived by his brother Joseph and his wife Jean of Louisiana, a niece Patricia Wardlow, and a grand nephew Mark Wardlow. He was predeceased by his wife Rose Chris (nee Nobile) Chappellie of 62 years. He was also predececased by his brother Albert (a World War II vet), and three sisters Edith Chappellie, Florence Gibbon and Clara Cioletti. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd, Totowa, on Monday at 10:00 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Stephen's R.C.
